Okay, Ami, Here’s an official ad for the Alzheimer’s Art Quilt Initiative!
I have been reminded this week several times of the amazing power of this project, so I thought I should post about it. First, by a fellow quilt guild member who gave me a huge hug at our meeting this week and noted that she bought one of my Priority: Alzheimer’s Quilts and it hangs at her workplace to brighten the world. Second, by an amazing friend of mine who just trekked all the way from Central Texas to Abilene to see the Alzheimer’s: Forgetting Piece by Piece exhibit with her Mom. She has also purchased one of my Priority: Alzheimer’s Quilts and the Alzheimer’s: Forgetting Piece by Piece book!
I have been honored to be a part of this adventure by contributing a quilt to the traveling exhibit, and I’ll post about other parts of this project soon.
I also created some free fabric postcard patterns so other quilters could use them to create their own Priority: Alzheimer’s Quilts. I will list them over the next couple of weeks. Please use them with my permission for the AAQI.
I created a general fabric postcard pattern, which includes all the stuff you need to know if you’ve never even made a fabric postcard before. The specific patterns will refer to this pattern for techniques. Download it here:
