25/52 Weekly Journal Quilt

This is my weekly journal quilt 25/52 2008, 6″ x 8″. The background was created with two different batiks, placed on a skewed grid. I placed little fused circles of one of the batiks and the Alexander Henry Tatsu print on top of the background to create the composition. I quilted across the piece on the altered grid. I really enjoy all the shades of purple!

This piece is for sale for $30 in my Etsy shop.

Interview in American Quilter magazine

I look a little un-enthused in the photo, but I am very excited in real life! The July issue of American Quilter is out on newsstands and stores near you, celebrating the AQS Paducah show with a whole page for One Tree Quilt (and me!) Go and check it out. My lovely head shot in the magazine was taken by a fabulous and talented friend of mine, Beth Jacquot. None of the head shot photographers received credit in the magazine, so I thought I could at least give her props here on my blog. Thanks a million, Beth!

This is my weekly journal quilt 24/52 2008, 6″ x 8″.

This piece looks a little shiny in the photo…because it is!  I created this journal quilt as a study for the next big quilt in my tree series.  The background of this quilt is a wipe rag from some purple painting and stamping that I created using shimmery Lumiere paints. I then layered batik free cut strips on top and fused them down.  I also zigzagged the edges to the Peltex base and straight stitched them with a nice thick variegated Sulky thread.  I then spray basted a purple organza circle down for the halo of the tree.  Lastly, I cut a tree out of fabric that I created with a stamp I designed.  I fused this down and then zigzagged all around the halo and tree.

This piece is for sale in my Etsy shop for $30.

23/52 Weekly Journal Quilt

This is my 23/52 2008 weekly journal quilt, 6″ x 8″.  This piece was created with an awesome print fabric that I used in my most recent large quilt.  In the large quilt, I mutilated it so that you can’t see the beauty of the design of the print, which is showcased in this piece.  Alexander Henry rocks.  I can walk into a fabric store, gravitate towards my favorite print, and inevitably, it will be by Alexander Henry.  For this artwork, I started with 3 plain cotton solid fabrics, layered some circles in the Tatsu print, added some more black lines, and voila!  I fused all the pieces down, stitched over the design on a curved angle with purple and orange thread, fused on a back layer of fabric, and lastly zigzagged the edges.

This piece is available for $30 in my Etsy shop.

22/52 Weekly Journal Quilt

This is my weekly journal quilt 22/52 2008, 6″ x 8″. This little piece is made with some of the last little bits of a favorite green leafy print. I was looking to make something with some graphic **POW** this week to it, and this definitely is not a shy piece. I fused the green and black pieces to the whole cloth red background. The veins on the leaves are the top layer and were laid on like a “web” over the leaf piece.

This piece is for sale for $30 in my Etsy shop.

ACEO Sky I, Naomi S. Adams, 2008

I created a showcase of artists on Etsy’s Treasury West. I really enjoy running across new artists on Etsy and being able to purchase a small print or ACEO to love. You can view the showcase here.

This is a way that allows members to share creations in other shops that they enjoy. Some of the pieces were created by my team members on the Etsy Texas Crafters Team. This is a time limited display that will end on Sunday morning, so check it out before then!
